Barker Firm Congratulates K9 Officer Agir Honored in Washington D.C. with Career Service Award

Vineland Police Sgt. Lou Platania’s retired K9 Agir was honored by the Animals in War & Peace with a Medal of Distinguished Service ( https://animalsinwarandpeace.org/) on March 11, 2025.  Agir received the award in recognition of a distinguished career in police service, which included an apprehension nearly 10 years prior, in March, 2015, a physical altercation with a PCP-intoxicated subject who managed to get two hands on Sgt. Platania’s handgun, before another officer released Agir from Platania’s police car and Agir saved Sgt. Platania’s life.  Officer Platania, Agir and Vineland were vindicated by a unanimous federal court jury verdict for the defense in October, 2023, a verdict recently upheld on appeal by the Third Circuit in November, 2024.  See Sergeant Platania, whom the Barker firm proudly defended, discuss the case on PHL17 News here:
